Junior League - Message from Commissioner

1/31/2008:

Commissioners Report:  1/31/08

Dear Parents and Players,

My name is Craig Antonelli, and I am the 2008 Commissioner for the IFPAA 8 yr. old Junior Baseball League.  2008 will be an exciting year for our kids. There are numerous rule changes at this level such as:

·       Kid pitching is phased in (2 Innings per game)

·       Strikeouts are registered (4 Strikes)

·       Maximum outfield of 4 players, field 10 players total

·       Bases at 55 ft.

·       Play ending rules

·       6 innings, no foul arc, no “T”, Starr 5 ball, etc.

Teams will have a maximum of 11-12 players, and will be formed with a priority given to balancing the talent level among the teams in the league.  With this in mind, special requests for a player to be on a certain team or play with a friend or manager may still be made through registration, but are not guaranteed to be honored.

This is also the year that we begin Tournament Ball. There is a lot involved with Tournament Ball, including an enhanced level of competitiveness, as well as time and money commitments.  More information on all this will be sent and communicated to you in the near future.

We are hoping to hold some indoor Winter Workout Sessions in February and March.  Additional information will be forthcoming.

Online SPORG registration is available now through March 1 via the IFPAA website at www.ifpaa.org.   Please note that a $10 late fee applies to registrations after February 15. Any questions on winter workouts, In-house or Tournament Ball, please contact me via email at cantonelli@ifpaa.org.

Sincerely,

Craig Antonelli

IFPAA Junior Baseball Commissioner
