3/16/2010:
Mustang Parents and Players,
Don't forget about the Mustang League Evaluations that will be held this
Saturday, March 20 at the Baierl Center on the North Allegheny Senior High
School campus. In order to get a better look at the players and to avoid an
excessive amount of idle time for the players, we will be splitting the
players into two groups and evaluating them at different times.
Players whose last names start with A - J will be evaluated from 4:00-5:00.
Players whose last names start with K - Z will be evaluated from 5:00-6:00.
Please report to the Baierl Center 15 minutes before your scheduled time to
allow time
for check-in, warming up, etc. so we are ready to begin on the hour.
We realize that these evaluations overlap a little with the Night at the
Races, so we are going to do everything we can to stay on schedule to
minimize any inconvenience.
Remember that the evaluations are taking place so that the coaches can
attempt to form teams that are as equally balanced as possible. These are
not tryouts - all players who register will be placed on a team. During the
evaluations, we are going to run the players through a few stations to watch
them field grounders, throw to bases, catch fly balls, pitch, hit, and run.
Then sometime later in the weekend or early next week, the coaches will get
together to draft fair teams. The coaches will then contact you next week to
let you know to which team your son has been assigned. Practices will then
start shortly thereafter.
Speaking of managers, I am pleased to announce that the same seven managers
that managed last year will be returning again this year. These managers are
Mike Blackburn, Jeff Catanzarite, Walt Frank, E.J. Heckert, Greg Potts, Lou
Stanasolovich and Jerry Wall.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me through email (djohnson@ifpaa.org).

1/22/2010:
Hello 2010 Mustang Players and Parents,
Although it may seem early to start thinking about baseball, the Spring
season will be here before you know it. To start getting ready for the
upcoming season, we will be holding a couple of clinics in February. These
clinics will be held at Ingomar Middle School on Friday, February 5, from
8-10 PM and on Friday,
February 12, from 6-8 PM.
Players may attend one or both clinics, and there is no cost for the
clinics. However, if you do plan to attend a clinic(s), please RSVP so that
we can plan accordingly and have enough equipment and facilitators.
We are still finalizing the details, but we will most likely be covering
basic fundamentals as well as introducing some more advanced skills in
fielding, pitching, and baserunning. Check the Mustang page of the IFPAA web
site as the date approaches to learn more about the topics that will be
covered during the clinics.
And if you ever have any questions or concerns about the clinics or the
baseball season in general, please do not hesitate to email or to give me a
call at the number below. Hope to see you all in the gym and on the field!
