Pinto League - Message from Commissioner

2/17/2010:

Dear Parents and Players,

My name is Dave Hunker, and I am the 2010 Commissioner for the IFPAA 9 yr. old Pinto Baseball League.  The 2010 season a challenging year for our players, as we make significant strides towards traditional baseball.  Among the key rule changes at this level will be:

  • Full player pitching (with pitch counts enforced)
  • Strikeouts (3 strikes) and walks are registered
  • Stealing and bunting will be phased in
  • The standard little league (hard) ball will be used

Rosters will consist of 10-11 players and will be established from a draft to evenly distribute talent among all teams.  All players must participate in an evaluation session on March 7 at NAI School (Lower gym) as part of the draft process.

If you cannot be at the evaluations, please let me know as soon as possible. During the evaluations, each player's fielding, throwing, hitting, running and pitching skills will be evaluated by all of the managers plus several individuals from other IFPAA baseball levels. The coaches will then participate in a draft relying on the results of the evaluations shortly thereafter. You will be contacted by your respective coach no later than March 20th. I will announce the season schedules by the end of March.

If you know of any friends or neighbors with children of appropriate age that did not play in our league last year but may be interested, please encourage them to register or contact me at dhunker@ifpaa.org  Online registration is available now through February 28th via the IFPAA website under the Registration link.

We will continue Tournament Ball at the conclusion of the regular season play-offs. There is a lot involved with Tournament Ball, including an enhanced level of competitiveness, as well as time and money commitments.  More information regarding tournament ball will be communicated to you in the near future.

IFPAA is a volunteer organization, and many of the field improvements and fund-raising activities require volunteer assistance.  Please do not assume someone else is taking care of it.  Any donation of your time would be greatly appreciated.  In my next update, I will be posting a listing of the activities this year that require help from a Pinto parent.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  Thanks for your support and I look forward to a great season.

Dave Hunker
