1/13/2008: Dear Players and Parents: Welcome to the 2008 IFPAA T-Ball season. My name is Chip Galaska, and I will be the T-Ball Commissioner for this year. This league is for boys and girls, ages 5 and 6. T-Ball rules are designed to allow players to participate at their own level, and to maximize playing time. There will be approximately 12 players on each team. Managers and coaches will emphasize fundamental baseball skills, sportsmanship, and team play. Games are played twice per week. One game is played Monday – Thursday at 6:15 PM and the other is played Saturday morning or afternoon. Games are 4 innings and typically last 1 ½ hours. Games will be played at Vestal Field (Rt. 19 and Pine Creek Road) and Espe Field (Highland Road, at the Pittsburgh Chinese Church). Players must provide their own baseball glove and black baseball pants. Baseball shoes are not required, but may be worn. No metal spikes are permitted. IFPAA will supply team caps and shirts, batting helmets, bats, balls and tees. If your child brings their own batting helmet, IFPAA requires that it has a face shield. Volunteers are extremely important in T-Ball! Parents can volunteer as team managers, base coaches, field coaches, hitting coaches, bench coaches or pitchers. Please indicate your area of interest on the registration form. Participate and have fun with the kids! Please register as soon as possible. A request to group your child with a friend, coach, or specific neighborhood, should be noted on the registration form in the “Special Requests” field, or emailed directly to me prior to the registration deadline of March 1. I will do my best to accommodate special requests. Managers will notify parents and players of team assignments in mid-March. Practice will start in April, and the season will run from late April through late June. If you have any questions or concerns, please email cgalaska@IFPAA.org .
