2008 Rookie Program (7-8 year old program)

 

Dates Offered: Week 1: June 16th – 19th

Week 2: June 23rd – 26th

Week 3: July 7th – 10th

Week 4: July 14th – 17th

Week 5: July 21st – 24th

Week 6: July 28th – 31st

Week 7: August 4th – 7th

Days Offered: Camp will run Monday through Thursday

Time of Camp: 9am – 1pm

Age Qualification: April 30th is the cut-off date. Campers must be 7 on or before April 30th, 2008 to be eligible.

Format: Day campers only

Lunch: Included each day

Give-aways: T-shirt and hat

Camper Limit: No more than 30 campers per week

Instructors: Three Ripken Baseball certified coaches will teach each camp class. The camper to instructor ratio will be approximately 10:1.

Instructional Focus: Campers will learn fundamentals in hitting, infield, outfield, pitching, throwing and game-

time instructional analysis.

Daily Games: Campers will play an instructional game each day after lunch.

Dates Offered: All camps are listed as Sunday – Friday (Sunday check-in for overnight campers only)

Time of Camp: Day Campers – Must report by 7:45am Monday morning

Report Tuesday – Friday at 8:45am

9am – 4pm Monday – Thursday camp hours 9am – 12noon Friday camp hours

Overnight Campers - Check-in is 4-6pm on Sunday at Towson University

Official dismissal at 1 pm at Ripken Academy

Age Qualification: The Ripken Way Camp – 9-15 years old

Capacity: 240 campers

Meals: -Day campers receive lunch each day at our complex except Friday

-Overnight campers receive dinner on Sunday, B/L/D Monday –Thursday and

breakfast on Friday

Give-aways: Home and away jerseys / hat / team photo

Instructors: Ripken Baseball certified coaches will instruct at each camp. These are college players, former minor league players, and college/high school coaches. The camper to staff ratio will be approximately 8:1.

Instructional Focus: Campers will learn fundamentals in hitting, infield, outfield, pitching, throwing and

specialized team instruction. They will compete in competitive baseball activities during the

afternoon.

Daily Games: Campers will play an instructional game, have team instruction, and be involved in baseball-orientated activities each day.

Overnight Activities: Overnight campers will stay at Towson University. We will be going to Putt Putt Fun Center, Aberdeen Ironbirds game, and the swimming pool. Campers will also gather on Thursday night for activities which include a camper slide show and raffle of prizes.

Cost per Camper: $495 for day campers / $895 for overnight campers

Age Qualification: Specialized Training Camp – 10-12, 13-15 & 16-18 year olds

Instructional Focus: Campers will learn more detailed and technical aspects of baseball while enhancing their

overall knowledge for the game. Each camper will have an opportunity to gain insight into position specific specialized training in two different areas they choose. Each Day they will spend 1 hour at each position for a total of 8 hours of specialty training. Additionally, hitting evaluations will be implemented using video analysis, powered by Dartfish. Each player will receive evaluations on a CD of his swings and instructional commentary from Ripken Certified full-time staff

Position Specific: Middle Infield (shortstop and 2nd base) / Corner Infield (1st and 3rd base) / Outfield / Pitching / Catching – Note: Camper must pick two different positions

Daily Games: Campers will play in instructional games and competitions each afternoon.

Surhoff, Mark Parent, Ken Gerhart, John Habyan, Joe Orsulak, IronBird Players, etc. All other instructors will be Ripken Baseball certified coaches. The camper to instructor ratio will be approximately 8:1.

different positions they choose from former major leaguers. Each day they will spend 1 hour per day at each position for a total of 8 hours of instruction (4 hours each). Each player will receive evaluations on a CD of his swings and instructional commentary from Ripken Certified full-time staff.

Age Qualification: Ripken MLB Experience – Specialized Training Camp – 10-12, 13-15 & 16-18 year olds
