1. ASA rules apply except as modified and/or clarified below.
2. The Bracket Director or Assistant Bracket Director and the umpire are responsible for compliance with the tournament rules, and will make all determinations regarding rosters, protests, etc. Protests must be made at the time of the infraction, and will be ruled upon prior to the resumption of play. No protests are permitted any other times.
3. The tournament is round robin followed by an elimination round. You will play each team in your bracket. The top two teams in each bracket advance to the elimination round. Bracket rank will be determined by win/loss record. Tie-breakers are:
· Least runs allowed
· Runs scored (max 15/game)
· Coin flip
4. Team rosters must be submitted prior to the first game in which your team is playing. Roster limit is 15 players. Players born in 1992 or later are eligible. Proof of birth date must be provided upon request of the Bracket Director or Assistant Bracket Director.
5. Home and away teams will be determined by coin flip. The visiting team may use the entire field for warm-up for 5 minutes at 15 minutes prior to the start of the game. The home team may use the entire field for warm-up for 5 minutes at 10 minutes prior to the start of the game. Warm-up is for fielding only, no batting practice on the field. Only the outfield may be used for warm-up at any other time that the field is not in use. At the umpire’s discretion, warm-up may be eliminated or revised due to time constraints. If warm-up is eliminated, neither team may use the full field or infield for warm-up. Teams that do not report to the field by scheduled game time will forfeit the game. A team must field a minimum of 8 players at all times or the game will be forfeited.
6. Game length is 7 innings. If a team is ahead by 10 or more runs after 5 innings of play (4-1/2 if the home team is ahead), that team will be awarded the win. The ten (10) run rule does not apply to the Championship Game (the 10 run rule DOES apply to Elimination games). If the game is terminated for reasons other than the 10 run rule, the game is considered complete if 5 full innings, (or 4-1/2 innings if the home team is ahead. Elimination round and championship games will be played to completion. In the event that a game is postponed, the game will be resumed from the point of suspension.
7. A continuous batting order format applies. 10 players field in accordance with ASA. The team’s entire lineup must bat in the order submitted to the scorer, and no players may be added to the line-up once submitted. Free substitutions may be made in the field from the line-up submitted. If a player is ill or injured, the player may be removed from the line-up without penalty to her team. If a player is removed from the line-up for any other reason, her turn at bat will be recorded as an out each time her turn comes up. The umpire has sole discretion in determining illness or injury. If a player is removed from the line-up, she may not return to the line-up.
8. The umpire and managers will review the ground rules prior to the start of each game. The manager is the only person that may discuss a call with the umpire.
9. In accordance with ASA, pitching distance is 46’, bases are 60’ apart.
10. The 3rd strike foul rule does not apply; players that foul with two strikes will not be out.
11. The infield fly rule DOES apply.
12. Offensive players must wear a helmet while at bat and as a runner. A base runner (or batter/runner) playing without a helmet properly positioned on her head will be called out. If a helmet is dislodged due to contact sliding into a base, the runner will not be called out (as long as the helmet was not removed on purpose).
13. All player uniform jerseys must provide a clearly marked number for easy identification. Duplicate numbers are not permitted.
14. No jewelry may be worn by players. This includes post earrings.
15. No metal spikes are permitted.
16. No titanium, triple or quad wall, or ASA non-approved bats are permitted.
17. No alcoholic beverages are permitted in the park. No tobacco products are permitted on the field or bench areas.
18. Good sportsmanship is emphasized at our tournament. Each manager is responsible for the conduct of his/her team’s players and fans. Teams and fans may certainly cheer for their team, but cheers and comments “against,” or derogatory in nature to another player or team will not be tolerated. Should the manager be unable to control the players or fans, the manager’s team may be removed from the tournament at the discretion of the Bracket Director, or Assistant Bracket Director.
